Garmin Marine Network

All Garmin Gear (almost):
Following the shut-down of the Loran system (February 2010), I installed a second 'GPS' system on our Grand Banks 42 Motoryacht (Bella Mera IV).

The GPSMAP 3205 unit fits in the old Northstar 800 'form factor' on the Flybridge and on the Bridge.

The 'old' Garmin color chartplotter on the Flybridge (Garmin GPSMAP 2206) and Bridge (Garmin GPSMAP 172C) remains in place and may be replaced sometime in the future.

New Garmin Marine Network for Bella Mera IV:

  • Two (2) Garmin GPSMAP 3205 Color Chartplotter
  • GSD 20 for Sonar. Garmin was helpful explaining why the instructions are not same for the 3205 = must NOT use port 3 as shown in the installation guide.
  • GPS 17x (second antenna)
  • Standard Horizon AIS / VHF (GX2100) / Standard Horizon GX2100 / Garmin 3000 series interface
  • (interface to Robertson AP300X Autopilot / 2 x AP300CX)
  • GMS 10 network expander (for future expansion)
